Toyota Yaris fleet variant priced at Rs 9.12 lakh

  • Toyota Yaris for fleet market launched at Rs 9.12 lakh
  • Based on the lower-spec J variant but costs Rs 1.96 lakh less
  • Primarily available in a white exterior colour, though other finishes are available on request

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that the Yaris sedan is now available on the Government e Marketplace (GeM). Priced at Rs 9.12 lakh (barring taxes and such), the fleet-spec Toyota Yaris only available in manual form and in the lower-spec J variant. We had reported that Toyota India would introduce a base-spec Yaris for the fleet segment back in April. This version of the Yaris costs about Rs 1.96 lakh less than the variant it is based on.

According to the Japanese carmaker, the Yaris for the fleet market comes with seven airbags, ABS, EBD and brake assist, remote central locking, a manual day/night inside rearview mirror and rear parking sensors, making it one of the best equipped of its kind in terms of safety kit. On the outside, this version of the Yaris features 15-inch alloy wheels and halogen projector headlights. While it is primarily available in a Super White colour, other available colours can be supplied based on request.

On the inside, the fleet-spec Yaris gets two-tone Interiors, though features such as adjustable front and rear headrests, front and rear armrests, power adjustable wing mirrors, power windows, a manual AC and a rear charging outlet are also expected. The model is also expected to get a 80kph speed limiter in some applications, which is the norm for cabs.

Mechanically, this version of the Yaris is identical to the standard Yaris J - the 107hp/140Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. For now, there’s no factory-fit CNG-powered version of the Yaris, though we expect Toyota to introduce one in the future, which will add to its appeal in the fleet segment.

With this fleet-spec Yaris, Toyota essentially has a replacement for the Etios. The B-segment sedan, which was discontinued at the beginning of April, was a popular model for commercial use. It remains to be seen if the Yaris will match the Etios’ popularity.
