has just announced its four-year strategy plan for the Indian, African and Middle Eastern markets. This four-year plan falls under the company's global transformation plan and will include cost efficiency, building on market strength and bringing in more of the global technology. But the bit we are more interested in is the launch of eight new cars in these regions by 2023.
Going forward, Nissan is aiming to optimise its regional product portfolio and is looking to make its plants more cost efficient. The carmaker is also planning to bring more of its global technologies to these markets such as its hybrid e-Power system, connected car technology and electric mobility. The is one of its highest selling electric vehicles around the globe.
The carmaker has also stated that it'll focus more on SUVs and affordable sedans. Nissan will also take the support of its Alliance partners -- and Mitsubishi -- for implementing the plan. It will also look into platform and technology sharing for more efficiency in terms of cost.
We must admit that it's an aggressive plan by Nissan. While the carmaker has decent sales numbers across the globe, its Indian operations generate average figures at best. Almost all of Nissan cars sold in the country until recently were dated and faced stiff competition from newer competitors. Nissan chose to and the GT-R.
The carmaker's next big launch in India is its sub 4-metre SUV, which is likely to be called the Magnite. It'll feature bold styling elements and is likely to come packed with features. You can read more about the Magnite right.
