Amazon India And Mahindra Electric Come Together For More Efficient Deliveries

Amazon India has announced a pact with Electric to deploy electric vehicles for deliveries within the country. The Mahindra Treo Zor will be used for this purpose, across seven cities, including New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Amazon India plans to add 10,000 EVs to its fleet by 2025, designed and manufactured by OEMs locally. In fact, the company plans to deploy 1,00,000 EVs globally by 2030 as part of the Climate Pledge.

Launched in October 2020, the Treo Zor is Mahindra's electric three-wheeler with a 550kg payload capacity and a claimed range of up to 125 km. It is powered by an electric motor (backed by a 7.37kWh battery pack) and has a top speed of 50kmph, with an estimated charging time of 3 hours 50 minutes.

The expansion of our Electric Vehicle fleet to 10,000 vehicles by 2025 is an integral milestone in our journey to become a sustainability leader in the industry. We continue to work with several OEMs to build a fleet of 'Made in India' electric vehicles that ensure sustainable and safe deliveries of customer orders, and this partnership with Mahindra Electric is a testament of our commitment."

Mahindra is also planning to launch its first long-range EV, the , priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 16.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
