strategy. And now, the carmaker has revealed its future roadmap. And it's going to be quite a push for electrification.
To start things off, Kia has announced a new corporate name by removing 'Motors' and will now be called 'Kia'. This includes its new slogan 'Movement that inspires'. Kia's future roadmap will also put forth its 'Plan-S' electrification strategy into action.

Under the 'Plan-S' strategy, the carmaker will introduce seven new electric vehicles by 2027. These new models will be a range of passenger vehicles, SUVs and MPVs, across a variety of segments. All will be built on Hyundai Motor Group's new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and have simple codenames from EV1 to EV9.

Out of the seven new EVs announced, the first one will debut in the first quarter of 2021 and will be the first model to bear Kia's new logo. It will have a crossover-like design and boasts 500km of range, with charging times taking less than 20 minutes. While we don't know what it actually looks like, the teaser images for the new models have a sharp design philosophy. Kia aims to have a 6.6% share of the global EV market by 2025, as well as 500,000 EV global annual sales by 2026.

The carmaker will also introduce new Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) for corporate customers that will be based on flexible 'skateboard' platforms. The new models may range from a micro-autonomous pod, a small individual urban transporter, a mid-size commuter or a large logistical vehicle.
As for the future back home, Kia is still at its infancy with the likes of the internal combustion engined sub-4 metre SUV. So it might take some time to see Kia bring its new electric vehicles.
