The Five Quickest Cars We Tested In 2020 Audi Q2 Skoda Octavia RS245 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe And More

2020 is coming to an end and it's the time to bring back some favorite memories from the Zig Office. While most of our time this year was spent behind our laptops at home, we were lucky to test a few performance cars. So to those enthusiasts who believe in 'Speed and Power', here are the top five quickest cars we tested in 2020.

Audi Q2

The isn't really a performance oriented car, but it ain't a slouch either. Packing in VW Group's 190PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with four-wheel drive in such a small package means the Q2 is really quick off the line. While most Audis live up to the claimed time to go from 0-100kmph, the Q2 exceeded its claimed time of 6.5 seconds by over a second. It ended up with a 0-100kmph time of 7.62 seconds, which is still pretty quick. Not just going fast, this Audi is remarkable in shedding speeds as well. With a braking distance of 36.92 metres from 100 kmph (most cars take over 40 metres), it can get to a stop pretty much quicker than anything else on the road. Respectable, but what really plays spoilsport here is the exorbitant price tag of Rs 34.99 lakh to Rs 48.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda Octavia RS245

Taking fourth place in this list is one of the enthusiast's favourites, the . The standard Octavia RS230 itself is mighty quick, but the RS245 is faster. It did 0-100kmph in 6.20 seconds, which is half a second quicker than the RS230. This is no doubt helped by the 245PS 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 15 more horses. The quick shifting 7-speed DSG, launch control, and the front differential also need to be given credit for putting that power down effectively.

Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe

We got a handful of new AMGs this year, but the quickest one we tested was the new , which did 0-100kmph in five and a half seconds. This AMG is also every-day usable as it's as practical and luxurious as the standard GLE. And when the mood comes to get behind the wheel, you'll be happy to know that a 435PS 3.0-litre in-line six engine is always ready to be unleashed.

These were the quickest cars we have tested in 2020. We wish we could have got our hands on more cars like the , but the bat-eater in China had other plans. Nevertheless, we hope to enter 2021 with more horsepower and paddle to the metal.
