Mercedes-Benz Teases MBUX Hyperscreen Ahead Of January 7 Unveiling
Mercedes-Benz has teased the latest advancement in its MBUX suite, an ultra-wide curved touchscreen. Dubbed the MBUX Hyperscreen, it will be unveiled on January 7 at the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The EQS will be the first model to receive the Hyperscreen and the host of new features that come with it.
The Hyperscreen will be home to car connectivity across smartphones and wireless devices, helping to control vehicle, infotainment, and comfort functions using artificial intelligence (AI). These could include features such as unlocking the door and cabin pre-cool using just a smartphone. If the name Hyperscreen is any indication, we expect it to be similar to the touchscreen and its functionality offered on-board the Tesla models.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the Hyperscreen will be a full-width curved display, meaning it will span the entire length of the dash in the EQS EV. The global debut will be displayed on January 7, whereas the full in-depth presentation will take place during the virtual 2021 CES. The presentation will be carried out by Ola Kandauml;llenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, Vera Schmidt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Digital Design, and Sajjad Khan, CTO and Member of the Board of Management Mercedes-Benz AG.
The German carmaker is also gearing up for the preview of its first all-electric compact SUV, the EQA, on January 20. This will be followed by the launch of the EQS in the first half of 2021. Mercedes-EQ, which currently consists of the and EQV, plans on adding six new models to its lineup by 2022, bringing the total to eight.
