Jeep is all set to launch the facelifted Compass in India soon and has released its first teaser. The image, showcased on the Jeep website, indicates a new green colour option. While the updated Compass will debut on January 7, dealers have already started accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings for Rs 50,000.
We got to see the updated Compass for the first time at the Guangzhou Auto Show recently, and the SUV gets quite a few changes. The exterior has been given a breath of fresh air with the chrome-studded seven-slat grille, sleeker LED projector headlights and LED DRLs (all for the first time in a Compass), aggressive new bumpers, and updated tail lamps detailing.
It is the interior, however, that gets a complete makeover. Starting with the main highlight, the Compass will come with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Jeep's latest UConnect 5 connected car suite. Other highlights include a new steering wheel and digital driver's display. Features like wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and ventilated front seats will be added to the list of features, which already included a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and cruise control.
Mechanically, the Compass is expected to remain unchanged. It will still be powered by the same 163PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine as seen in the current model. Transmission duties will continue to be handled by the 6-speed MT, with the turbo-petrol getting a DCT option and the diesel a 9-speed AT.
