Nissan Magnite Sub-4m SUV Variants Explained

While the will go on sale in early-2021, the carmaker continues to give out more details on the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV. This time, the company has revealed all the details of the variants on offer. It comes in XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O), offered with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, coupled with a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. Here's what each variant offers:

XE

Starting with the most barebones variant in the Magnite's lineup, the XE is only available with the naturally aspirated 72PS/96Nm 1.0-litre petrol with a 5-speed manual transmission. Standard features include halogen headlamps, split tail lamps, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, 16-inch steel wheels with hub cap, and a rear spoiler with LED stop lamps.

Heading inside, you get a black/grey fabric upholstery, adjustable headrest for front and rear seats, a 3.5-inch LED instrument cluster, manual AC with deodorizing and dust filter, front and rear power windows, rear wipers, a 12v socket up front, and manually adjustable ORVMs. It's also well equipped in terms of safety features with dual airbags, ABS+EBD, rear parking sensors, rear window defogger, seatbelt pretensioners, and reminders for driver and passenger.

It, however, misses out on several things such as LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, coloured ORVMs, chrome door handles, 16-inch alloy wheels, height-adjustable driver's seat, sliding + reclining driver and front passenger seats, and 60:40 split rear seat. It's also completely devoid of any entertainment system, steering-mounted controls, a bigger driver's display, cruise control, illuminated glove box, automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push button start/stop. Other misses include chrome-finished rear AC vents, rear 12v socket, electronically adjustable ORVMs, LED front fog lamps, ISOFIX mountings, more assists, and a 360-degree camera. This variant would be the ideal pick if you're willing to face compromises in the feature department.

XL

Next up is the XL variant which is thankfully a decent step up from the base XE variant. It's also offered with the 100PS/160Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a CVT transmission option. That said, it misses out on LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, height-adjustable driver's seat, sliding + reclining driver and front passenger seats, 16-inch alloy wheels, seat back pocket and chrome accents. It also doesn't get the larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, cruise control, voice recognition, a 7-inch driver's display, rear AC vents with chrome finish, and illuminated glove box. Here's what it gets over the variant below it:

  • Front and rear bumper silver skid plates

  • Coloured ORVMs

  • Chrome door handles (CVT only)

  • 16-inch steel wheels with dual-tone cover

  • Rear seat armrest cup holders (turbo only)

  • Steering-mounted audio controls with telephone connectivity

  • Hill Start Assist (turbo only)

  • Traction control (turbo only)

  • Hydraulic Brake Assist (turbo only)

  • Anti-theft alarm

XV

XV is the mid-spec variant in the Magnite lineup. It's yet another decent upgrade over the previous variant, but still falls short of some notable creature comforts. They include LED projector headlamps, LED turn indicator in headlamp, few more chrome accents, premium black leather upholstery, 360-degree camera, connected car tech, cruise control, 12v power outlet for rear passengers, front door armrest, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Here's more about what it gains over the XL variant:

  • LED DRLs

  • 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels

  • Sliding + Reclining front seats

  • Height-adjustable driver's seat

  • Seat back pocket

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • Rear view camera with display guidelines

  • 7-inch multi-functional driver's display

  • Illuminated glove box

  • Trunk lamp

  • Over driver switch in gear shift knob (CVT only)

  • LED front fog lamps

XV Premium

We finally head towards one of the higher-end trims of the Magnite with the XV Premium. As the name suggests, it is pretty much equivalent to a top-spec variant with the only exception being the presence of connected car tech. It also gets the optional tech package. Here's what it gets over the XV variant:

  • LED projector headlamps

  • LED turn indicator in headlamp

  • Patterned film on instrument panel with black finish

  • Premium black upholstery

  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel

  • 360-degree camera with simultaneous rear and front display and bird's eye view

  • Cruise control

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

  • Rear AC vents with chrome finish

  • 12v power outlet for rear centre console

  • Front door armrest

  • 360-degree camera view

XV Premium (O)

Not much has been revealed about the creme de la creme variant of the Magnite sub 4-metre SUV aside from the fact that it is offered only with the 100PS/160Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and gets Nissan Connect connected car tech. Expect more details to be revealed as we head closer to its launch.

Tech Pack

Nissan is also offering an optional tech pack for the XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O) variants for those who want more creature comforts. Here's what comes in the tech pack:

  • Wireless Charger

  • JBL speakers

  • Ambient mood lighting

  • Air purifier

  • LED scuff plates

  • Puddle lamps

Expect Nissan to price the Magnite from the Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) mark with pre-bookings likely to commence shortly. It will rival the likes of the.
