Nissan Magnite dimensions, fuel efficiency revealed
The Nissan Magnite’s dimensions, kerb weight, engine details, fuel efficiency and other technical specifications have been revealed ahead of its launch in the coming weeks. So far, the only specifications Nissan had shared for the Magnite included its 205mm of ground clearance, 336-litre boot, gearboxes and engine capacities, but now, the Nissan Magnite brochure is out, and it sheds light on several key details.
- Nissan Magnite kerb weight ranges from 939kg – 1,039kg
- Magnite 1.0 Turbo has 100hp and 160Nm of torque
- Turbo-manual version has a fuel efficiency figure of 20kpl (ARAI)
Nissan Magnite dimensions
The Nissan Magnite measures 3,998mm in length, 1,758mm in width and 1,572mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,500mm. It isn’t as wide or as tall as other compact SUVs, but matches rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza on the wheelbase front.
What the brochure also confirms is the Nissan Magnite will be among the lightest compact SUVs on sale in India, a trait it will likely share with its cousin, the Renault Kiger. The Magnite’s kerb weight is rated at 939kg for the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol version, 1,014kg for the 1.0 turbo-manual and 1,039kg for the 1.0 turbo-CVT version.
Fuel tank capacity for the Nissan Magnite is pegged at 40 litres, and all versions will run on 195/60-section tyres with 16-inch wheels – steel wheels or alloys, depending on the variant.
Nissan Magnite engine specifications
While it was known the Nissan Magnite will come with two 1.0-litre petrol engine options, we now know their exact power outputs. The naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder petrol makes 72hp and 96Nm of torque, and will only be available with a 5-speed manual.
The Magnite’s 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine - paired with a 5-speed manual - makes 100hp and 160Nm of torque, and although those numbers aren't class-leading, combined with the light weight, it should make for sprightly performance.
The Magnite 1.0 turbo will also be available with a CVT automatic, which sees peak torque drop by a bit to 152Nm.
Nissan Magnite mileage
Of the three versions of the Nissan Magnite, it’s no surprise that the Turbo-CVT combination has the lowest ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 17.7kpl. The naturally-aspirated 1.0 petrol has a claimed economy figure of 18.75kpl, and it is the 1.0 Magnite Turbo-MT that sits top of the pile in this department, with a fuel efficiency figure of 20kpl.
Expected Nissan Magnite price
As has been revealed previously, the Nissan Magnite will be available in a total of four trim levels, with the option of a Tech Pack that adds a handful of feel-good features. The Nissan Magnite’s price is expected to start at a really aggressive Rs 5.3 lakh, and the range is likely to top out at Rs 7.5 lakh for the fully-loaded Turbo-CVT version.
When it arrives sometime closer to December, the Nissan Magnite will have its work cut out, as it will have to take on the likes of the Nexon, Vitara Brezza, Sonet, Venue, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
