Hyundais Micro SUV Spotted Testing Yet Again More Design Details Revealed

  • Hyundai's micro SUV could be launched in India to rival the Tata HBX and Maruti Ignis.
  • Looks like an SUV thanks to its upright stance and boxy design elements.
  • Could be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines.
  • If launched, it could be priced from Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

It's no secret that. Hyundai's micro SUV has already made its spy shot debut, but these latest pictures give us more clarity on its design.

Hyundai has done a decent job of making its upcoming compact model look like an SUV with an upright stance and a square silhouette. Even the squared-out wheel arches are nicely filled by what looks like 16-inch alloy wheels. However, this is the first time we're getting a look at the front-end and it seems to be inspired by the with a large grille and split headlamps. Incidentally, the Tata HBX will feature split headlamps as well.

We are yet to see the interiors, but in true Hyundai fashion, we expect the quality of materials to be one of the best in the segment. It's likely to come loaded with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, a multi-info display, and a wireless phone charger. Safety is likely to be covered by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, and a rear view camera.

Hyundai is yet to reveal the engines powering its micro SUV, but it could come with the carmaker's 83PS 1.2-litre petrol and 75PS 1.2-litre diesel engines. The 100PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine can't be ruled out as well. All these engines are likely to be offered with a manual gearbox, but only the 1.2-litre engines could get an AMT, like the Grand i10 Nios.

It's yet to be determined if Hyundai will launch its micro SUV here, but considering the carmaker's aggressive Indian ops, we expect it to be launched by 2021. Prices are likely to start around Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). If launched, Hyundai's micro SUV will rival the, and the upcoming Tata HBX (official name yet to be announced).
