More Motorcycles To Spawn From Triumphs 660cc Engine
The wraps are off Triumph's most affordable offering, the Trident, and the market is already buzzing with rumours of new motorcycles flaunting the new 660cc in-line triple motor. Much like the Thruxton R TFC and the, this news too comes from a Triumph dealership convention held in Europe.
The photograph shows renders of three motorcycles: a roadster easily recognisable as the Trident, an adventure bike resembling the Tiger 900, and an adventure sport/tourer. Since the manufacturer has already filed an application with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the in the United States, we presume the brand may resurrect the Sprint moniker rather than using the Tiger Sport name for a smaller capacity adventure sport bike.
Another image from the presentation confirms the bikes will use the same 660cc in-line triple motor and will be available in A2 and Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS)-compliant form. This version of the 660cc motor will be restricted to 47.6PS while the full fat version of the same should make up to 95PS of peak power. Triumph will also keep the pricing competitive to attract younger buyers.
The mid-weight segment has been witnessing a lot of action lately and it makes sense for the House of Hinckley to utilise its new platform to the fullest. The ADV will take on the likes of the. When these new bikes see the light of day, the brand should become even more accessible to a wider audience. Of course, at this point, there's no information about these smaller offerings coming to India. But we expect Triumph to launch them here fairly hot on the heels of its European debut.
