It's been quite a while since we last heard of the upcoming made its debut at the 2017 International Motor Show in Germany. Well, the folks at Stuttgart have given us a reminder that their project is very much soldiering on as the carmaker has begun testing pre-production units at its own test track and technology centre at Immendingen.

Let's get down to the crux of this hypercar, and that's under the hood. Mercedes-AMG have finalised that it will be powered by a road-going iteration of the 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 hybrid motor that currently powers its Formula One cars. Combined with four electric motors, it will produce more than 1000PS of outright grunt and be a high revver a 11,000rpm redline.

Power unit aside, the Mercedes-AMG One also boasts some aerodynamic wizardry in the form of active aerodynamics. It has an extendable two-stage rear wing that maximises downforce in race mode for maximum grip and performance.

Like the concept, the cabin of the production-spec One is expected to feature bucket seats with adjustable backrests integrated into the monocoque skeleton, two high-res 10-inch displays to read out relevant data, an F1-style steering wheel with integrated LED shift lights, and a rear view camera instead of a mirror.

The testing phase doesn't end there as Mercedes-AMG has revealed that the One will also be put through its paces at the on the north loop of the Nanduuml;rburgring circuit soon. Deliveries are expected to commence by 2021, so we could expect a production-spec unveil by the end of this year. All 275 production units have already been sold out at USD 2.75 million (Rs 20.36 crore) a pop.
