2020 Honda Jazz launched at Rs 7.50 lakh

Honda has launched the updated Jazz, with prices starting at Rs 7.50 lakh. Apart from subtle cosmetic tweaks and some new features, the hatchback gains a BS6-compliant petrol engine with this update. The BS6 Jazz is a petrol-only model and is available in three variants – V, VX and an all-new ZX trim.

  • Powered by a 90hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine
  • CVT gearbox option on three trims
  • Gets new features like LED headlights, LED foglamps and a sunroof
  • Cruise control now standard across all variants

Given below are the variant-wise prices.

2020 Honda Jazz prices (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Variant Price
Jazz V Rs 7.50 lakh
Jazz V CVT Rs 8.50 lakh
Jazz VX Rs 8.10 lakh
Jazz VX CVT Rs 9.10 lakh

Interestingly, prices for the entry-level Jazz V in manual form have increased by Rs 5,000 compared to the BS4 petrol model while the price of the entry-level Jazz automatic have reduced by Rs 15,000.

What’s powering the 2020 Jazz?

The updated Jazz is powered by a BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque. Gearbox options, as before, include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The ARAI mileage for the BS6 Jazz petrol-manual is 16.6kpl while the Jazz automatic is rated at 17.1kpl. The Japanese brand claims that almost 70 percent of Jazz buyers opt for the automatic version.

Honda will not offer the previously available 100hp, 1.5-litre unit with the 2020 Jazz.

What’s new on the 2020 Jazz?

On the outside, the updated Jazz gets new LED headlights, new alloy wheel designs and tweaked front and rear bumpers. Inside the cabin, notable changes include new fabric upholstery and soft-touch material on the passenger side of the dashboard from the VX trim onwards. There will be five colour options available - Radiant Red Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic.

In terms of features, the top-spec ZX trim gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a rear camera, keyless entry and go, power adjustable and foldable ORVMs, LED headlights and tail-lights, a sunroof and paddleshifters (CVT only).

The lower V and VX trims also get revised equipment lists. Some features that were only available with the CVT gearbox option are now available with the Jazz petrol-manual too – cruise control is now standard across the board while the VX trim now gets keyless entry and go as standard. Both the V and VX trims also get LED daytime running lamps.

Standard safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

Which cars will the 2020 Jazz compete against?

The updated Jazz continues to battle it out against other premium hatchbacks in the market like the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza. Bookings for the BS6 Jazz had begun on August 10 for Rs 10,000 on the Honda from Home online platform and for Rs 21,000 at Honda Cars India dealerships across the country. Honda offers a 3-year/unlimited kilometre standard warranty pack with the Jazz.
