Emojis have been around since the turn of the millennium and let us express a wide range of emotions using small digital icons. It is estimated that smartphone users send more than 70 billion chat messages and 10 billion emojis a day But why do we celebrate World Emoji Day on July 17? The story goes that the first World Emoji Day was celebrated by Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia, on July 17 as that's the day represented by the calendar emoji on an iPhone.
