We all know that at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and the production version is likely to be revealed later this year. Now, just ahead of its debut, Daimler head Honcho Ola Kandauml;llenius has revealed some juicy bits on the upcoming electric sedan at a shareholder's meeting.

Kandauml;llenius revealed that, "The EQS will set standards. More than 700 kilometers of driving range according to WLTP andndash; that's how far it can go on one battery charge." This makes it more of a match against the likes of the Tesla Model S. The Model S Long Range variant has a claimed range of 610km on a single charge, calculated as per WLTP (UK-spec model) standards.

Powertrain details on the EQS are still under wraps, but we expect them to be similar to the concept that debuted at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept is powered by electric motors at the front and rear, that produce 488PS of power and 760Nm of torque. Yes, there's an and it's likely to be more powerful, though it may not offer the mind boggling range figures that were revealed. Instead, the non-AMG models are likely to get the higher range options and a 100kWh battery pack.

Expect the EQS EV to be unveiled sometime later this year with production likely to begin in 2021. It is expected to make it to India considering the a run for its money.
