One of the main additions to Skoda's new infotainment system is permanent built-in SIM with internet connectivity. This translates into an improved digital voice assistant, dubbed Laura, that is now compatible with 15 different languages. In addition to this, you get wireless SmartLink which enables Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity without a wired phone connection, and internet radio.
Its navigation functions and software updates are now available over the air with the option of transferring your desired direction from your phone to the car's navigation system via the Skoda Connect App. Another nifty addition to the infotainment system is the ability to create a Skoda ID account directly from the vehicle. For those that are annoyed at constantly changing infotainment settings for different people, you can create upto 14 custom profiles that can be transferred to other Skoda models as well. And finally, Skoda has added a USB-C port for all three models with the option of another port built into the roof above the rear-view mirror which can be used to power a dashcam. This feature will also make its way into the Scala and in the future.
Back home, Skoda sells the with prices starting at Rs 30 lakh and 25 lakh (ex-showroom), with both featuring an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However this isn't the updated one. Expect Skoda to introduce the new system in its India-spec models in the near future.
