The Compass Night Eagle is based on the Longitude Plus trim, which means it is fairly well equipped, with features like an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and Xenon projector headlamps.

The 173hp, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel, meanwhile, is available with both the 6-speed manual and the 9-speed torque-converter automatic, but only the automatic version comes with AWD; all other models are front-wheel drive.

What are Jeep India’s future plans?

As reported earlier, the Compass is due for a major mid-life update that will be unveiled early next year. Expect multiple changes on the exterior and on the interior, including a much larger infotainment screen and new steering wheel, among other things. Apart from the Compass facelift, Jeep is also readying a seven-seat ‘D-SUV that will come a little later and will get a more powerful iteration of the current 2.0-litre diesel engine.
