The BMW Group, which consists of BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad, has announced that it has resumed India operations today. The company's dealer network, Chennai plant and corporate office have all reopened in accordance with government guidelines. Local production at Chennai plant has resumed with less than 50 percent of the regular workforce.
The company has implemented multiple procedures to ensure the safety of both its employees and customers. These include individual protective gear, hand sanitisers and regular health check-ups for all employees. The company says it will periodically sanitise surfaces in all its working areas.
New and serviced vehicles will be handed over to customers pre-sanitised at the location of their choice. The company intends to have test drive/ride vehicles available, and they can be booked at respective dealerships. All test vehicles will be sanitised while the cars will be equipped with hand sanitisers as well. Service engineers working on repair and maintenance will be wearing personal protective gear at all times.
The company has also introduced BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad Hygiene packages at all dealerships. The hygiene packages are a combination of premium care products that are specifically designed for the particular materials in each vehicle. Three types of hygiene packages have been launched:
Full Car package: This is meant to be “a one-stop solution to keep the car clean and shiny as brand new with a collective seal and protect kit”.
Air package: This consists of an AC system cleaner, a 2.5PM filter and an ozoniser to ensure high quality of air in the cabin.
Interior package: This one ensures cleanliness and decontamination of a car’s interiors with products such as a glass cleaner, interior cleaner, leather care set, leather foam cleaner and microfiber cloths.
The BMW and MINI packages will be available from June 15, 2020 at all dealerships at a special introductory price till July 31, 2020. The company will also provide a complimentary BMW Motorrad Care Kit with all new bikes purchased before July 31 , 2020.
