2020 BMW M3 M4 Global Debut Timeline Revealed Power Specs Variants Unwrapped

We all know that has been working on the latest iteration of the M3 sedan and M4 coupe for a while now. And while you must have seen its humongous (read ugly) kidney grilles in plenty of scoops, many of you may be waiting for what lies behind it. And that's exactly what Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW's M division, has revealed in his Instagram stories.

Though Flasch is yet to reveal the engine powering these cars, he said both models will have an output of 510PS. For reference, the current M3 and M4 come with a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine that develops 450PS. It's safe to assume that the latest iteration of both models could use a revised version of the current motor.

Unlike the current models which only come in rear-wheel drive guise, the upcoming cars will be offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. Does that mean you can't have some tail happy fun with an AWD M3/M4? Well, BMW could offer it with switchable AWD just like the, where the driver can switch to pure RWD mode and slide around like a hooligan. At the end of the day, BMWs are known for their RWD madness and the trait will be retained here to satisfy BMW enthusiasts.

BMW enthusiasts can also further rejoice as both the M cars will be offered with a stick shifter along with an automatic gearbox. Now to the cosmetic updates. Both models are very much likely to feature the gigantic grille, a trait that will be seen in future cars. In fact, the BMW 4 Series is in its final stages of testing and you can have a look at its design elements.

So when's the M3 and M4 going to make their global debut? Well, it's sooner than you think as both models will be revealed in September 2020. We expect these iconic models to be launched in India in 2021 to satisfy BMW enthusiasts in the country.
